This has nothing much to do with little plastic soldiers but was a small project I did for our living room. The wife approved so I quickly carried out the work.

Post No.200 - Blast from the Past
For my 200th post I decided to do a little special and dug out my first ever painted Warhammer models. Those are the snapfit Marines from the 2nd edition 40K Box.

And now: Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay
Long time no see. Been buys with... I don't know stuff?
Me and my girl been to Scotland and it was awesome. Unfortunately we had a lot fo rain which wasn't good because of camping but we truly enjoyed the time though. I especially liked Edinburgh, Oban and of course all the nature with no human and just mountains, green and sheep. Last but not least Staffa was a fantastic experience and perfectly for proposing to my girl. Yeah we got enganged and gonna marry next year.
Hobby related I didn't do a damn thing for quite a long time. I managed start a group of roleplayers for warhammer fantasy roleplay. We're playing 1st edition and I collected a lot of adventures for that through several communities. Unfortunately it's quite difficult to get a grip on the Enemy Within books in german and so I'm still missing "Death on the Reik" but I think someday I will be lucky on ebay. We're quite a big group with six players and a GM but I guess some of them will vanish soon enough. The group consists of a Halfing Footpad, a Halfling Noble, a Elven Hunter, a Human Sorcerers Apprentice, a Dwarfen Troll Slayer and a Human Warpriest of Sigmar. We played the Oldenhaller contract adventure and two others from a german fan who made some on his own. Means we had four evenings of playing until now and next week we start with "Lichemaster" after which the first part of "The Enemy Within" will start. We'll see how many of the six players remain until then. Maybe I get to paint something again during the next two weeks because I have holidays. It's at least my plan to do so.
Cheers

Scotland is a go!
So still no model related stuff. Still in kind of move-in-and-holiday-planning stress. The only thing that I had the last weeks to fix my geek need was my Call of Cthulhu RPG group.
BUT as the title reads Scotland is a go. On monday the plane is leaving and then there will be two weeks of pure rental car camping fun. The route is Edinburgh - Falkirk - Perth - Dufftown - Inverness - Ullapool - Skye - Oban (- Isle of Mull - Staffa) - Glasgow - and back to Edinburgh. Hopefully I get back to my working desk after that time because I have such an itch in my fingers.
If there's anybody out there resident in Scotland and out for a Pint or two during the next two weeks give me a heads up and we'll surely have them.
So long my friends allons y!

Fifth Birthday
Due to the fact that my girl moved in with me there are still some packing crates blocking my hobby space and I didn't do much stuff in the last time. We're still about to get things sorted. I even sold my whole Blood Angel company. Not just because we don't have enough space for it but also because I just don't use it anymore. Same things are about to happen to my Imperial Guard army. So if anyone of you "needs" some Guards or Le Man Russes comment below and I'm gonna put up some pics of the stuff that has to go.
Just because I'm not doing hobby stuff atm doesn't mean that I don't have things in plan. The kickstarter from tablescapes battlefields is about to get shipped so it'll probably arrive during the next month on my doorstep, that means I have to do some gaming table building. Therefore I plan to buy buildings from several manufacturers and I'm gonna modify my Silent Hill board buildings for fitting. Gonna do posts on that when it's time for. Until that I still have some stuff on my painting desk but I can't access it right now because of aforementioned packing crates.
So while checking the blogroll today I realised that it's my blogs fifth birthday and I just blushed because I didn't plan anything special for it. Don't even knew that it was today.
So Happy Birthday little blog, I'm sorry that I forgot you.
Cheers

Gone till November
Hope you're all fine? I'm pretty good, thanks. Yeah I've been gone for a while now. Basically because of summer. I didn't do much tabletop related in the past months. I've been for holiday trip in Egypt, and of course during the time where all those riots took place. Gladly everything worked out fine during our stay. I've also been to Budapest for three days with my dudes. Dude weekend you know. It was pretty cool, they have cheap beer. Rest of the time I spent playing Skyrim and Diablo III with my girl. My only Geek drug during the last three months was my Call of Cthulhu group. Played 5 games during that time and advanced pretty much in our campaign. Can't write down all what we discovered now but I have to say may character Otto Hahn is a pretty damn awesome guy. Fisherman, sailor, rascal, rakish, drinker, ladies man, sharpshooter (headshot a seal, yeah poor seal but it was to stop the elder ones from craving the souls of all mortals), social genious and master detective (he was the one that found the dead body that the whole police of Hamburg was looking for) We finished the first adventure with finding one of the fishmen on Borkum. It was kind of similar to the Innsmouth story from HPL. Now we're looking for a small boy that was kidnapped by strangers. His father, a big industrian moved with his family from New York to Hamburg and we just found out that there were also other kidnappings around... but fear not humanity, Otto comes to the rescue! With his fishermans coat, a captains hat and a bucket full of bad cursing.
On a completely other note me and my girl got into X-Wing some weeks ago and pretty much enjoy the game... if we find time during our Diablo sessions. And now that I got Assassins Creed IV it could get even worse. I'm playing Imperials and she supports the Rebel scum. Actually she first wanted to play princess Leia but since there is no Leia in the game until now she said she will be playing Luke as consolation prize.
We also started playing Carnage again last week and I feel the urge to do something with little figures again so maybe I get to paint or assemble some more models in the near future. I'm close to the "I HAVE TO!!!" moment where all the pent-up modeling bursts out in a big bash up session. But probably it will get killed by Cpt. Kenway... we'll see.
Cheers
Btw I realized the repost post of my Pyramind Head already counts nearly 6k hits. WTF?!

CARNAGE!
So it's been about five months since my last post here...
Man times running and what have I done? I spent most of the summer days hanging out with my dudes. Most thing we worked on finishing our own ruleset for tabletop gaming. It's called "Carnage" and the name is well deserved. I think the best rule we have is "the rule of maximum carnage" which states that all rule or gaming issues are simply resolved by choosing the possibility in which the most models can be killed. The book itself is mainly an artbook for my friends band "Debauchery" and the game rules are bonus.
Here are some page shots for you to get an impression. It's full of gore and girls. If you are interested you can order it here for the fair price of 10€.

New Add in
Hey guys just a short shout out.
This time it goes to Spacejacker over at TINY SOLITARY SOLDIERS.
He had this great idea of an instant snapshot stream via instagram. Me thinks this is a great idea especially for a lazy dude like me to get some content via a quick snapshot with the iphone.
I'm not sure about the placing of the add on but it will find it's place during time.
Dude I hope you don't mind copying it.
Cheers

More stuff to do
To get some more stuff done I needed to order me some Primer spray and because it is not possible to order only the things you need I bought some more stuff.
The crackle paint was a must because I always wanted to try that after I've seen some tutorials on various Blogs. (Massive Voodoo for example) I'll share my results as soon as I have some.
I also ordered some more beds for my Silent Hill table project and some toilets.
The naked lady miniature in the middle is for my next bigger Silent Hill Monster project and the Helldorado model was just too awesome to not buy it. It's kind of a mixture between "The Thing" and the Lying Figures from Silent Hill.
That's it for now. Cheers.

Happy Birthday to me!
So today I turned 31... and I feel it. I can't just party all night and welcome the family for cake the next day. But nevertheless they are coming today so I got to get me at least a little sober... or not.
From the Hobby front I can tell you just a little teaser. I decided that it's time again for a little roleplay and found some friends that want to join the group. And since I finally watched "The Walking Dead" series we're doing a Zombie apocalypse based on the Warhammer roleplay. I think this might work just great. I already made the special rules and stuff and we're getting started in the next two weeks when I finished the adventure.
Enough chat for today, it's time for cake.
Cheers

Aye Mateys!
Have been a lot of things going on in the past weeks. They weren't all good.
It startet right after my post of playing Space Marine. As I finished the game and wasn't able to play the Multiplayer mode I got back to playing Fallout 3. I never finished that game and started completely new.

I've been as lazy as a man can be
I've done nearly nothing in the past four weeks except for basecoating the first few Zombies. I mainly was relaxing and enjoying the weather. I finished reading Fatherland by Robert Harris. The Book was a great read and I only can recommend it. I've also finished Assassins Creed 2, is my first game which I have completed with 100% trophies.

El autobus es rojo!
Hola y chicas y chicos!
I had my annual staff appraisal these days. Nothing bad about it but I was still a little drunk from the regular meeting with my pals we have each week. It's like a thirsty thursday but on monday.
During this staff appraisal I was asked what my opinion is about further training and stuff. I said I'm not really excited about going back to school again but I toy with the idea of learning spanish. I still have no idea why I came up with this idea.
So now I'm doing a spanish class paid by my company.
It didn't start yet but I already learned some stuff which is very useful (more or less)
Lárgate! (Get along!)
Tengo diarrea (I have diarrhea)
and my favourite
El autobus es rojo (The bus is red)
Oh did I mention that I don't need spanish for my work?
I know this has nothing to do with modeling but I just wanted to tell you this odd little story.
Maybe it gives you a similar smile like the one I still get when thinking about this.

Let's get personal
Some time ago Brian over at A Gentleman's Ones talked about pseudonyms and how silly they are if you introduce yourself in real life with them. I really thought about that for a while and I came to the result that he is absolutely right.
I choose "Freakazoid" a long time ago when I started my career as an online personality within several chat rooms and stuff (yes I was very young) and the pseudonym just remained over the years. In my case it's a little different to Brian as I'll probably never meet any of you in real life because most of you life too far away.
I'm just way too old now for being Freakazoid. It was a fun series when I was a kid but those days are gone and I don't need to hide behind such an pseudonym anymore. I'm also no blue skinned guy wearing a pyjamas.
So my name is Oli and I am lazy and distracted. Pleased to meet you.

I promised to take you there again someday but I never did ...until now
Yes I know I'm nerdy quoting Mary's letter to James from Silent Hill 2 but hey I love that game. After finishing my bunker board I now have some new skills and techniques so I can go on with my Silent Hill gaming board. I started this a looooong time ago, I think it was in 2008 and I got as usually lazy and as there showed up some technical problems later I just took everythink and stored in a box out of sight. But I never gave up this project and worked on smaller pieces of it. Like the models and this city sign.

As (holi)days go by
So the holidays are gone but lazyness stays. The last two and a half weeks have been full of family duties and eating and as these stressful days have passed I reached my goal on finishing the first nine tiles of the bunker Board. I'm proud of me! Me and my pals already played a game on the board and today it's going to be the second round. I will post pictures of it as soon I made some.
Also my order from Games Workshop arrived before Christmas. Great, but I'm afraid of what will happen when placing the next order.
Hope all of you had a good start into 2011 and may your motivation never leave you.
